Street Vendors on Jalan Haji Ung will Be Arranged

Hundreds of street vendors who set up tents and stalls around Jiung Market, Jalan Haji Ung, Kebon Kosong Urban Village, Kemayoran Sub-District, Central Jakarta, will be arranged. The arrangement is done to create public order and prevent traffic congestion from happening.

“We’ve surveyed the location and indeed arrangement must be done. Thus, the location could be a guidance shelter for the street vendors and the street vendors would not block the road,” stated Head of Central Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Sri Indrastuti, Friday (11/28).

With a more organized shopping site on Jalan Haji Ung, Indrastuti added, it would attract more visitors to shop. To realize this plan, her department has proposed for the budget in the 2015 City Budget (APBD).

Street Vendors Rampant Again around Textile Museum

In separate place, Head of Kebon Kosong Urban Village, Suprapto, admitted that the existence of hundreds of street vendors’ tents and stalls on Jalan Haji Ung has disturbed road users and motorists. Not only selling on sidewalk, they also occupied roadside. Thus, his party will invite 520 street vendors on Jalan Haji Ung to attend meeting to discuss the arrangement plan next week.
